Implants lost after piezoelectric preparation: overheating of the tip

No prosthesis was present, and the wounds healed very well. Not everyone uses submerged healing, and these sites had 3 mm of gingival thickness. My impression is that the problem was caused by overheating of the piezosurgery tip. The implants were placed 1 mm subcrestally. I know the paper, but with adequate gingival thickness there is no need for deeper placement. The best result, however, was obtained with Morse-taper implants.

Use a light touch and always use internal irrigation. In principle, piezoelectric preparation produces a more favourable peri-implant environment. No studies of Piezo Drill have yet been published, but I expect them soon and am confident that they will confirm the positive data obtained with Piezosurgery.

In soft or normal-density bone, the magnetodynamic technique is excellent for graftless crestal sinus elevation of up to 3 mm. For elevations exceeding 3 mm, we use piezosurgery.
