Boschini describes approximately 7 mm of sinus elevation using the bone-plug technique, starting with 3 mm of residual bone. Colleagues ask about implant placement timing and whether hyaluronic acid can be used on its own.
I am sharing a case I have just completed.
This was an approximately 7 mm sinus lift performed using the bone-plug technique, starting from about 3 mm of residual bone.
A trephine was used to prepare a bone core approximately 2.5 mm high. The Mallet impulses subsequently reduced its thickness by compressing the cancellous bone. The 300 instrument was then used to displace the core towards the sinus without tearing the membrane. A xenogeneic bone graft mixed with hyaluronic acid was inserted, followed by the implant.

Very nice. 🤩 May I ask whether, in less experienced hands, it would be reasonable to wait six months after the crestal sinus lift before placing the implant when the residual bone height is below 5 mm? Thank you very much.

Grazie mille
