SINUS LIFT
We now know that residual bone height is no longer the only criterion when choosing between a crestal and a lateral approach.
Substantial sinus lifts are often performed through a crestal approach, but when the sinus is excessively wide, a lateral approach remains one of the preferred options.
In this case, the residual bone height was limited and the sinus was also wide. I therefore chose a lateral approach.

Ormai sappiamo che tra i criteri di scelta tra approccio crestale e laterale l’altezza dell’osso residuo non è più l’unico parametro.
Spesso si assiste a importanti rialzi di seno per via crestale, ma quando l’ampiezza è eccessiva il rialzo per via laterale rimane una delle soluzioni da preferire.
In questo l’altezza dell’osso era scarsa e oltretutto il seno era ampio. Il rialzo per via laterale è stata la strada che ho scelto di percorrere.

I performed a double sinus lift: there were less than 4 mm of bone anteriorly and less than 3 mm posteriorly. After very gently elevating the sinus floor, I injected NovaBone graft material with the syringe and also used the final Mallet tip. I completed the procedure with 1 cc of material, placing a 4.3 × 8 mm implant anteriorly and a 5 × 6 mm implant posteriorly.

Doppio mi rialzo, anteriormente c’erano meno di 4 mm di osso e posteriormente meno di tre. Dopo aver sollevato molto delicatamente il pavimento o innestato osso Nova bon con la siringa e anche aiutandomi con l’ultima punta del Mallet con un CC di materiale ho fatto tutto, anteriormente impianto lungo 8 mm per 4, 3 e posteriormente lungo 6 mm per 5 di diametro.
